The Early Childhood and Childhood Education (ECC) Program's pedagogy (major) requirements are listed below. This dual certification program enables Early Childhood Education candidates to also prepare for certification in Childhood Education.  This results in a dual certificate enabling candidates to teach children from birth through grade 6.  Dual certification is a rigorous program of study that may necessitate candidates completing an additional semester of study to fulfill all requirements for graduation and dual certification.  The following pedagogy courses are required for the ECC program:

ECE 270	Introduction to Early Childhood Education NOTE: Candidate must be of sophmore standing to take this course.	3 hours
ECE 330	Observation and Assessment of Young Children NOTE: Prerequisites: PSY 231 and ECE 270	3 hours
ECE 331	Curriculum Development I NOTE: Must be taken with ECE 332; Prerequisite: ECE 270	3 hours
ECE 332	Preschool Practicum NOTE: Must be taken with ECE 331	3 hours
ECE 333	Children, Families and Their Community NOTE: Prerequisite: ECE 270	3 hours
EDU 371	Reading and Language Arts I	3 hours
ECE 435	Childhood Literacy Across Curriculum NOTE: Prerequisite: PSY 231 and ECE 270	3 hours
EDU 373	Teaching Elementary School Math	3 hours
EDU 374	Teaching Elementary School Science	3 hours
EDU 314	Intro. to Computers for Teachers	2 hours
EDU 372	Reading and Language Arts II NOTE: Prerequisite: EDU 371	3 hours
EDU 375	Teaching Elem. School Social Studies	3 hours
EDU 478	Classroom Discipline NOTE: Prerequisite: EDU 371	3 hours
EDU 477	Elementary School Practicum NOTE: Must be taken with EDU 478	1 hour
EDU 400	Senior Seminar NOTE: Prerequisite: EDU 371	3 hours
ECE 490/491	Student Teaching NOTE: Prerequisite: All courses above must be taken before student teaching EXCEPT EDU 400. EDU 400 can be taken before or after student teaching.	12 hours
